As your broker, we are a mediator between you and the insurance company. Obviously we can inform you about your current insurance (what is insured, when does the insured period end) and we can inform you about potential changes. Some changes need to be discussed with the insurance company, other adjustments we can take care of on your behalf. On this page we mention some changes but if you are looking for other information, please contact us.
Extend the insurance period
Should the au pair remain longer in The Netherlands then the policy was issued for, then you can extend the insurance period. It is important that you request for this extension, before the current policy ends. Please bear in mind that this is an insurance that does not prolongue automatically. Extending the insurance period is your responsibility.
The maximum duration of the policy can not be exceeded.
Should you want the arrange an extension now, than please use our form to contact us and mention the policy number. Also mention the new end date you would want us to apply.
How to change the All-in medical cover to Additional
You always issue the insurance with All-in cover. For as long as the Basic Health Insurance (basisverzekering) is not yet arranged, the All-in cover stays valid. Then all emergency medical expenses can be refunded by ISIS.
Once the Basic Health Insurance (basisverzekering) is issued, you can alter the medical cover from All-in to Additional. You get a 25% discount on the ISIS Au pair premium. You send us a request by mailing us the policy certificate of the Basic Health Insurance (basisverzekering). The discount will start from the next insurance month.
Here an example to clarify:
Your au pair leaves on 03-09 to The Netherlands. You let the ISIS Au pair insurance start on 03-09 with All-in cover. The insurance month runs from 03-09 till and including 02-10. Etc. On 07-10 you receive the policy certificate of the Dutch Health Insurance (basisverzekering). You should use our "Additional application form" to request for the Additional coverage. This will start from the next insurance month, this is 02-11. From that day on you have a new policy with Additional cover that gives the au pair remuneration for costs outside The Netherlands (on holidays) and for the deductible. The discount is never give retroactivly.
Please mind that the Additional plan does not give a refund for dental expenses.
Change the insured person on the policy
When you expect a new au pair, you need to apply for a new insurance contract for that au pair. It is (no longer) possible to adjust the insured person on the current policy. We can stop the current policy for you, please look at "Ask for premium refund" for more information.
Aks for premium refund
Did your au pair leave earlier than was expected, then (in some situations) you can request for a premium refund since the au pair has left or is no longer your responsibility.
Before we can process this request, we would like to receive some information from you.
- when did your au pair leave?
- who is the au pair agency of the au pair? In case you used an au pair agency, then you can ask the agency to confirm to us that the au pair has indeed left your family.
Did you not use an au pair agency, then you can send us evidence that the au pair has left. For example, copy ticket, boarding pass, receipt or police rapport in case the au pair is missing. You can send it to info@johoinsurances.org
Conditions to get a premium refund (article 3.5 of the policy conditions) are:
The insurance was issued for at least 3 months. You don't get a refund of the first 3 months of the insurance.
The au pair must have left at least one month earlier than was planned. You only get a refund of the complete months that have not been used.
