JoHo Insurances is part of JoHo and focusses mainly on international insurances. We have gained a lot of knowledge and experience about different types of insurances and use this experience to advice people about insurances.

What benefits can the au pair or host family make use of?

The Au pair insurance is basically a package of insurances, that includes: 

SOS costs: this covers the costs that have to be made if the au pair has to return to home country. 
Medical expenses. The au pair could unexpectedly become ill on the way to The Netherlands, during her stay in The Netherlands but also on the way home. This insurance provides cover for the urgent medical treatments. 
Personal accidents. At the moment the au pair dies or becomes permanently disabled, as a result of an accident, the insurer gives a payment. This payment is given once. 
Luggage. Probably the au pair will take along some belongings when she comes to The Netherlands. Should her luggage suffer damage or get lost, this insurance provides a payment. 
Liability. What if the au pair accidently causes damage for another person. This person could hold the au pair liable which would mean that au pair needs to pay for the caused damage. The insurance company takes over this riks and pays for the costs when the au pair is indeed liable.

For whom is the insurance meant?

  • For foreign au pairs that remain in The Netherlands with a host family.
  • Au pairs that stay in The Netherlands for a maximum period of 18 months
  • Au pairs who are not older than 30 years old.

Do I need Europe of World cover?

If your au pair is living in an European country, you can choose Europe. Is your au pair from outside Europe, then you need to choose World. In the conditions you'll find a list of countries that are considered to be European according to the insurance company. 

What is not insured?

  • money (both cash and digital), credit cards are not insured.
  • liability during driving a verhicle with a motor. For example the au pair drives a car and hits someone. This should be insured by the car insurance. Would the damage be caused while the au pair was riding a bike, then the liability insurance is valid.
  • medical expenses that were foreseen or if they can wait untill the au pair returns home. This also excludes costs that are related to an illness or disease that existed before the au pair came to The Netherlands.


What is the maximum insurance period?

The insurance is valid for no more then 18 months. Do you need an insurance for a longer period then that,  please let us know.

Our au pair is leaving and moving to another host family. How do we arrange this switch regarding the insurance?

The new host family of you (previous) au oaur can arrange a new insurance through our website. It is not possible to alter the contract holder of the insurance. If you don't expect a new au pair any time soon, then you can terminate the insurance and ask for a refund of the premium. Het nieuwe gastgezin kan een nieuwe Au pair verzekering aanvragen via onze website. Het is niet mogelijk om de verzekeringsnemer te wijzigen op de polis. Als u geen nieuwe au pair verwacht, dan kunt u de huidige verzekering allicht stopzetten en het nieuwe gezin moet zelf een nieuwe verzekering regelen. Onze huidige au pair gaat weg, we verwachten een nieuwe au pair. Kunnen we de nieuwe au pair verzekeren op de polis?
Helaas is dit niet mogelijk. U kunt restitutie aanvragen voor de huidige polis, als deze minimaal 1 maand eerder moet eindigen, en u kunt een nieuwe verzekering aanvragen voor de au pair die u verwacht.

Krijgen we een pasje van de verzekering?
Nee, er worden geen pasjes gemaakt. Het polisblad is het verzekeringsbewijs dat ook gebruikt kan worden voor de IND. Indien de au pair naar een ziekenhuis moet gaan, belt u dan de alarmcentrale <link naar NU REGELEN> voor hulp met het regelen hiervan. Het is handig om het polisnummer bij de hand te houden.
